The payment route in everyday life
The insurer pays for approved treatment through the PassportCard process. Your own account stays separate in this payment route — the applicable benefit depends on the contract, plan and zone.

Tell the team in the app or by phone before the appointment. When the benefit is approved, the insurer pays through the intended payment route.
A hospital stay may require prior approval or a guarantee of payment. The team coordinates the next step with you.
The payment route is designed for medical treatment and — when the benefit is approved — pharmacy payments as well.

What actually decides
The card is not standalone cover and does not replace the policy terms. Those terms define covered benefits, limits, waiting periods and the applicable zone.
Which treatment is approved depends on the contract and plan.
The area of cover is part of the decision. The USA has a separate payment route.
When the card mechanism does not apply, the contractual processes for approval, documents or reimbursement apply.
